Bangladesh cricketer Mohammad Saifuddin has asked for a two-month break from playing cricket. He is struggling with mental health and needs some time to feel better.
Saifuddin has been feeling very sad and stressed, so he decided not to go with the Bangladesh ‘A’ team on their tour to Pakistan. This is not good news for Bangladesh, because he was supposed to play in important matches. He was chosen to play in the Bangladesh A team, but he also missed playing in the Global T20 Canada league with the Montreal Tigers because he could not get a visa.
Saifuddin sent an email to the selectors earlier this month. In the email, he said he was very upset about not being chosen for the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 squad and not being able to play in the Global T20 Canada 2024 league. He asked the selectors to not pick him for any cricket matches for the next two months. He also asked them to understand his situation.
A member of the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) said that Saifuddin had hurt his rib while working out in the gym on July 26. He was supposed to fly to Canada for the T20 league, but the BCB did not allow him to go because the long flight could make his injury worse. Saifuddin was in a lot of pain, and the BCB doctors decided it was too risky for him to travel.
This situation has made things very hard for Saifuddin, but he is taking the time he needs to get better. The BCB is supporting him, and everyone hopes he will return to cricket soon, feeling strong and healthy.
