Nick Hockley has announced his resignation as Cricket Australia (CA) chief executive, effective March 2025.
Hockley initially took on the CEO role on an interim basis during the early days of the COVID-19 pandemic. He became the permanent CEO in May 2021 after successfully managing the challenges of the 2020-21 season. This included handling border closures and hosting a crucial Test series against India, which ensured the financial stability of Australian cricket.
“This decision was challenging, but with a promising summer ahead and our five-year strategic plan well underway, it’s the right time for me to seek new challenges,” Hockley stated. “This also provides ample time for the Board to appoint a new CEO to build on the strong foundations we’ve established. I remain fully committed to the upcoming season and will support the Board in ensuring a smooth transition.”
Hockley’s final season at CA will feature a five-Test series against India and the Women’s Ashes in January.
